Back to the Good Ol’ Days

Drake went back to Degrassi High School in his music video for “I’m Upset.” Only Drake could pull off dropping a music video for “I’m Upset” and having a Degrassi reunion at the same time.

Some of the cast members that he brought back were Lauren Collins, Ephraim Ellis, Shane Kippel, Nina Dobrev, and Stefan Brogan. Poor Ryan Cooley! The old cast member apparently thought that the opportunity to be in this video was a scam which is why Cooley didn’t have an appearance.

People were still waiting on Drake’s response to “The Story of Adidon” when he released the music video. Instead of trying to come up with a clever comeback to Pusha T, Drake moved on and released the “I’m Upset” video.

Wait, Wait, Wait, Drake was in Degrassi?

The video put Drizzy at a high school reunion where the cast of Degrassi was reunited. Degrassi: The Next Generation was the artist’s first chance at stardom.

Drake joined the cast of Degrassi in 2001 when he was only 15 years old. His character was Jimmy Brooks, a basketball star who was put into a wheelchair after being shot.

While the timing of the release was probably not purposeful, with Drake, you never know. The release of this video was appropriate because of its lightheartedness and fun theme. It was also nostalgic for many fans who have been following Drake since his role on the Canadian TV show.

I’m Not Crying; You’re Crying

Once the video premiered, many of the cast members took to social media and posted behind-the-scenes photos. Former cast member Shane Kippel shared how pumped he was when he heard about this music video.

The music video featured a lot of Degrassi specific references, Spinner’s non-stop puking and Emma arguing over Manny’s eccentric wardrobe were just some of the moments that brought back memories.

All of the cast members raved about how sweet the whole weekend was when they all reunited. It’s hard to describe how amazing this music video is in words, so you just have to watch it yourself.

The video ends in the best way by showing “then and now” photos of all of the cast members set to the Degrassi theme song. So grab a box of tissues and get ready for the tears to roll down your face. You won’t be able to stop watching this and taking a trip down memory lane.
