She’s also a host for ESPN and the SEC Network, covering their college football, volleyball, basketball, NBA, and NFL content. And it’s been quite a journey for her. Pictured on the left, she was still just a sideline reporter.
But today she’s one of the most prominent voices in the industry and she’s only 33 years of age. In such a male-dominated field, we have to appreciate how far she’s made it. And at such a young age, she’s probably got a lot more to give. We’re rooting for you, Maria!
Gareth Bale Returns To Where It All Began
Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur took to their Twitter to share a “how it started vs how it’s going” post. They posted two photos of Welsh professional football player Gareth Bale, championing the return of their celebrated player. The first photo shows Gareth as a youth during his first stint with the club.
The second picture of Gareth shows him today, having recently returned to Tottenham Hotspur. The picture shows him training at their grounds once again now that he’s on loan from Real Madrid of La Liga. A few short years ago he was their star player, and they’re happy to have him back.
David Guetta Shows Us His Baby Face
French DJ David Guetta posted this side by side for his Twitter fans recently. Take a look at baby David with the great big headphones on his head! At the time, he was only a small child, too young to even dream about becoming an internationally celebrated DJ! Today, he’s considered the grandfather of electronic dance music.
On the right, we can get a sense of just how big his reach has been. He is often voted as people’s top DJ in various trending polls, and he amasses a huge audience all over the world. Since 2009, he has reached such a heightened level of fame that packed stadiums of people are a regular occurrence for David.
Kyle Kuzma Keeps Triumphing
Professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers, Kyle Kuzma, shared this side by side comparison of only three years apart. In the first image on the left, he had just won the NBA Summer League in 2017. He was just 22 years old.
Pictured on the right, Kyle is sitting with his championship trophy after the NBA Finals in 2020. At 25 years old, Kyle’s proving himself to be a major force in basketball. Who knows where he’s going to be end up in the future.
Jimmy Fallon’s Picture Perfect Home Life
Late-night talk show host of The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon, contributed his own personal take for the “how it started” challenge. On th left, we see Jimmy in his younger and much leaner days back when he was trying to make a name for himself on the comedy circuit. This was the time when he was appearing on Saturday Night Live Days.
Interestingly, he chose not to use a picture of him hosting The Tonight Show for his “how it’s going” picture. Instead of highlighting his huge career achievement, he gave us a picture of him at home with his beautiful family. However, on the table infront of his family there is a handwritten sign that reads “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” He does give his show a little shout out.
Mindy Kaling Is Winning at Life and Knows It
Actress, comedian, and writer Mindy Kaling shared a “how it started vs how it’s going” post on her Instagram to all 5+ million of her followers. On the left is a throwback photo of her in The Office, when she played the customer service representative Kelly Kapoor. That was back in 2005.
Take a look at how gorgeous she is today – money and fame obviously agree with her! Today, she’s an award-winning and internationally recognized comedienne who’s even made it so big she’s doing voice over work. As she wrote in the caption of this side by side comparison: “So yeah, it’s going pretty well. How about you?”

Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon shot to international fame after starring as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. It came out back in 2001, and instantly became a cult classic and a major hit with teenage audiences. And who could forget her iconic outfits, one of which was the bunny costume (left image.)
As you probably remember, her character was tricked into dressing up in fancy dress, which was pretty embarressing for the law student. But take a look at Reese with the costume today (right image) that proves she’s barely aged in almost 20 years! She’s truly an example of beauty and brains.

Actress Christina Ricci became a famous face at a very young age, after appearing as Wednesday Addams in the 1991 movie The Addams Family. Who could forget her spooky little girl appearance? The jet black pigtails, pale skin, and macabre dress have become a staple for Halloween dress-ups.
And take a look at her today, recreating the look that her TV mom, Morticia Adams so famously wore. She’s a hugely famous actress known for taking on dark roles and has won a Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy, and Screen Actors Guild among others. And to think, her role as Wednesday probably inspired her to keep acting as unconventional personalities.

Portugese professional football player Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most famous and loved sportsmen in the entire world. Worth almost $500 million, he’s one of the richest people in the world today. He had one particularly memorable conversationw with his dad (left:) “When I was young, I told my Dad that, we are going to be rich and we are going to have a big house like Michael Jackson’s one.”
Cristiano continued: “Then he said, “Son that’s impossible.” Fast forward to today and we see that it did in fact come true. But now, Cristiano finds himself in a similar position to the past, but this time in his father’s shoes. He is training his own son to become a professional footballer. No pressure there then…
America Ferrera Says Goodbye as Amy
Actress, producer and director America Ferrera shared her own “how it started vs how it’s going” post to her Instagram. She wrote: “The picture on the left is me on my first day as Amy shooting the pilot of NBC’s Superstore in 2015.” Obviously, America was feeling the nostalgia.
She continued in her caption: “The pic on the right was my last day on set as Amy. I can’t believe it’s almost time for my last 2 episodes to air!” That right – for any Superstore fans out there it’s sad news as the show is on its very last season. Hopefully it’s not the last we see of Amy Sosa.
Alphonso Davies Makes History at Only 20 Years Old
Canadian professional football player Alphonso Davies joined in on the “how it started vs how it’s going” craze to take over social media. He posted a photo of him as a young kid (left) when he was still trying to prove himself as a top tier football player. He was doing well as he had won himself a trophy.
Looking at the photo he shared on the right, we can see that all his boyhood dreams came true. Not only is he playing for Bayern Munich, but he made history in August 2020 when he won the Champions League trophy over Paris Saint-Germain. That’s definitely worth celebrating.
Angelina Jolie’s Son Maddox Isn’t a Baby Anymore
Is it just us, or does it feel like only yesterday when actress Angelina Jolie adopted her son Maddox? It was 2002 and she was in Cambodia when she struck up a connection with the seven month old. She once recalled how she “didn’t feel a connection with any of them [the children],” when walking around the orphanage.
“They then said, ‘There’s one more baby.’ I cried and cried.” It was the first time Angelina became a mother. Now, Maddox is 19 years old and embarking on life as a young adult! It’s crazy how time flies. But the pair are as close as they’ve always been it seems, and we love to see it.

Actor, director and producer Giancarlo Esposito is most famous for his portrayal of Gus Fring in AMC’s hit crime series Breaking Bad and the prequel series Better Call Saul. He was such a hit that he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award three times for his role.
But he actually had an illustrious career before he became internationally recognizable. A fan of singer, rapper, and songwriter Nicki Minaj’s posted these photos for the viral “how it started vs how it’s going” trend. It shows Nicki on the cover of her first demo CD side by side with her today, featuring on the cover of Billboard magazine. She started out her musical career in New York, releasing this demo in the early 2000s.
Today, Nicki’s one of the most successful music artists of all time. In fact, she actually started her stage career back in 2004 when she was part of a rap group, called Hoodstars. She’s come a long way since then – nowadays, Nicki doesn’t have to share the spotlight with anyone.

Singer Miley Cyrus is such a prominent celebrity, people have probably forgotten about how it all started for her. Before she was a racy pop star she was a teen idol, famous for her role on the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana. Miley played the title character.
Starring as Hannah Montana, her character did actually produce music and saw Miley releasing soundtracks. But they were child-friendly Disney songs that were nothing but wholesome. Today, her content has become a lot more r-rated. Remember the MTV Video Music Awards in 2013?
