If you are having trouble placing the name RZA, he is the unofficial leader of the New York-based Hip Hop group, the Wu-Tang Clan. Since their formation in Staten Island 1992, RZA has also produced almost all of Wu-Tang’s albums and solo projects. With all that, Rza also managed to form his own street label, 36 Chambers.
You may not have guessed, but eight out of the ten official members of the Wu-Tang Clan are vegan. This just makes us love them more! So it makes sense that 36 Chambers makes their products as vegan and environmentally friendly as possible.
The brand itself is not new, Wu Wear was originally released in 1995. The label focused on streetwear inspired by the group with the logo of the hip-hop group as the main feature of the designs. The label was unfortunately discontinued in 2008, but is back now looking fresher than ever. In case you were interested, you can still find some of the older designs which are still popular on eBay around the world.
New & Improved
Similar to the old collection, the new line includes t-shirts and hoodies which all feature the classic Wu-Tang logo and graphics, getting us nostalgic about the 90s. The style is pretty easy to recognize, making it even more iconic.
When explaining the choice to make vegan clothing, outside of the fact that RZA is vegan, he explains “As we evolve as a people through technology and ingenuity, we have the ability through humane ways to fashion garments that not only serve our purpose but also, more importantly, abandon the unnecessary cruelty to animals.”
Pretty cool, RZA has been living a vegan lifestyle for many years and he has made sure that his brand and collections reflect his beliefs. He works along PETA to ensure that his products are made the best way possible. PETA has recently approved a new vegan wallet for the brand which is now available online. You would never have guessed but the wallet is made from banana leaves… What!
Must-Have Puffer Jacket
The newest item to add to the shopping cart is the Flying Guillotine Puffer Jacket. The jacket is actually limited edition and only 100 have been made, so get in quick. Not only is the jacket vegan, obviously already cool, but it is made out of recycled plastic bottles collected from the ocean.
We think that puts it at the top of our must-have list. It looks cool, and not only does it not hurt the environment… it helps reduce plastic waste that already exists.
Just like all cool things in life, the jacket was a collaboration between 36 Chambers, Embassy of Bricks which is a German vegan jacket brand, as well as PETA.
We’re happy to hear that RZA is continuing to develop vegan products that he can add to his lifestyle brand. We’re excited by the newest product, but we also can’t wait to see what’s next to come in the collection.
