When you’re a world-class superstar, chances are you are living the high life. True, many do donate some big money to charity, but that doesn’t stop them from affording themselves “a little” luxury. When you find yourself on the extreme end of the wealthiness spectrum, you might be confronted with a hard choice: Are you going to buy a private jet or a yacht?
Get your boarding passes and your life jackets ready. Here, we take a look at some of the biggest celebs and their insanely luxurious yachts and private jets, the ultimate toys of the super-rich. We can’t promise you that you won’t get jealous, but we can promise to give you a glimpse of what it looks like to live the high life in the sky and on the water in the shoes of today’s superstars.
Oprah Winfrey – Bombardier Global Express XRS, Estimated $42 Million
Oprah allowed herself to splurge on a $42 million private jet after she had a bad experience with a fan at the airport. “One of the things that actually caused me in 1991 to get my own plane, I was in the airport and I was just minding my own business and a woman came up and she said, ‘You’re not acting like you do on TV'” said the talk show goddess in an interview.
She says the private jet is her biggest indulgence, but she loves it. “I would say having your own airplane is the greatest luxury.” We agree. As you can see, it’s equipped with nice light brown reclining chairs, a complete table, and televisions. It’s just beautiful, and it really is the epitome of high-class living. And when you have a net worth of $2.5 billion, why not?
Beyoncé and Jay-Z – Galactica Star, 213 Feet, Estimated $70 Million
Beyoncé and Jay-Z are one of the music world’s richest power couples. Beyoncé herself is estimated to be worth about $400 million. And Jay-Z, the first hip hop artist to make it on the billionaire’s list, has a net worth of about $1 billion. So it did not break the bank when they decided to buy an exquisitely luxurious super-yacht a few years ago.
The couple had reportedly charted the yacht and loved it so much they decided to buy it. $70 million is small peanuts for them. It’s got everything: jacuzzi, glass-bottom pool, accommodations for 12 people, sauna, VIP suite, you name it. Interestingly though, the couple ended up selling it a few years later. But now, they have chartered another one, for a few millions a week, and are currently on vacation in Europe.
Bill Gates – Gulfstream G650, Estimated $65 Million
Recently, Bill Gates was replaced by Jeff Bezos (the founder of Amazon) as the richest man in the world. We don’t think he’s too sad though, seeing as he’s worth almost $100 billion dollars and can easily afford a private jet. And not any old private jet. He owns a Gulfstream G650, which is kind of la crème de la crème in the world of private luxury aircraft.
As far as glamorous billionaire lifestyles go, Gates, the founder of Microsoft, is pretty modest. He says that he mainly uses his jets (yes, he has a few!) for business; flying here and there to further his philanthropic activities. Still, life is first-rate. On the right, you can get a little taste. We see Gates sitting with Warren Buffet, lounging on beautiful beige leather chairs, and helping themselves to some snacks served on a pristine hardwood table.
Diane von Fürstenberg – Eos, 315 Feet, Estimated $200 Million
Diane von Fürstenberg is a world-class fashion designer. Her most notable item, which bears a lot of responsibility in making her filthy rich, is her wrap dress. When you have as much money as she does (about $1.2 billion), you might find yourself relaxing on a massive super-yacht. Seriously, this yacht is so high-class, that it’s famous on its own. The yacht even has its own Wikipedia page.
Though there are quite a few pictures of Eos from the outside, as well as photos of von Fürstenberg relaxing on/in it, not too much is known about its interior. Von Fürstenberg’s husband, Barry Diller, likes to keep it a secret. We think, however, that it has a glass staircase. There are also rumours of an upper deck jacuzzi. And we think it can host up to 16 people.
David Beckham – Bombardier Challenger 350, Estimated $21 Million
Though David Beckham, one of the world’s top football heroes, is retired, he still has his hands in the football business, big time. That means money is still pouring into his account. Also, he’s married to Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. Posh Spice, who’s not too poor herself. The result? David can afford a luxurious private jet. Well, FYI, he’s estimated to be worth about $450 million, so yeah…
David uses his jet to fly his sons and his friends to their out of town soccer games and Victoria uses it to tour around Europe. The British couple also spends a lot of their time in the U.S., so of course, a private jet is extremely convenient for hopping back and forth over the Atlantic Ocean. Tabloids have also spotted the soccer god heading to more exotic locations, such as Morocco.
Bono – Cyan, 141 Feet, Estimated $24 Million
Bono, the U2 frontman, is a top-tier rockstar. He’s got tons of money (around $700 million) and he’s not afraid to live a little. He even bought a first-class plane ticket for his hat when he realized he forgot it once. One of his most lavish purchases is his roughly $24 million dollar yacht. This thing is armed to the teeth with bells and whistles.
It can host 12 people, it’s elegantly decorated on the inside with expensive hardwood (oak, mahogany), it has a fully-loaded gym, an outdoor cinema, a jacuzzi, a piano, and all the fishing equipment anyone could ever want. But don’t worry, beyond all this luxurious spending, Bono also donates millions to charity.
Cristiano Ronaldo – Gulfstream G650, Estimated $65 Million
Cristiano Ronaldo is the world’s second highest paid soccer player, after Lionel Messi, his archnemesis. Ronaldo brings in almost $120 million a year and his net worth is estimated at $450 million. He used a small chunk of his vast fortune to buy a beautiful private Gulfstream jet. It’s one of the finest (if not the finest) private jets on the market. It can comfortably transport 18 people.
It’s also the fastest private jet on the market; it can reach speeds up to around 600 mph. Plus, Ronaldo decorated the whole thing from interior to exterior. Everything from the paint job to the furniture, Ronaldo hand-picked with one classically Ronaldo goal in mind: live like a king. And oh does he ever. Even in the ultra-rich world of people who own private jets, Ronaldo’s jet is considered expensive.
Justin Bieber – Gulfstream G4 (Chartered), Estimated $1 Million per Week
For years, we’ve seen the young baby-faced prince of R&B, Justin Bieber cruising the airs in private jets. In 2014, rumors circulated that he had acquired one. Again, in February 2020, after he uploaded a few photos to his Instagram, we thought that maybe he purchased a Gulfstream G4. But it turns out that doesn’t own a jet, he charters them.
Chartering a private jet is no poor man’s game. According to lunajets.com, a charter website, it costs anywhere between $3,000 and $12,000 per hour. But for Bieber, that’s no problem, because he has about $265 million in the bank. If you charter your own jet for a week, it could easily cost $1 million. This time, Bieber got the Gulfstream G4, and as we can see, he’s loving it. Like a true Canadian, the Biebs is playing hockey while Hailey chills on the bed.
Nicole Kidman – Hokulani, 150 Feer, Estimated $4.5 Million
It’s estimated that Nicole Kidman’s net worth is about $250 million. So paying $4.5 million for a yacht isn’t that much. The yacht’s name is Hokulani and it’s a deluxe beast. It would be an understatement to say it’s fully loaded. It’s got a wet bar, a saloon, all kinds of showers, a fully-loaded kitchen (including a grill), a top of the line media system, and five supremely luxurious cabins.
There is, however, a little bit of juicy controversy surrounding Kidman and her yacht. After she sold a house in Australia, neighbors in the affluent neighborhood were fuming because she left the yacht docked at the wharf. It just sat there forever, thus breaking all sorts of bylaws. But probably due to her preferential status as a superstar, the committee in charge of enforcing regulations didn’t take any action against her.
John Travolta – Boeing 707, Estimated $10.5 Million
For John Travolta, when it comes to private jets, his motto must be “go big or go home” because he owns a full-size Boeing 707. The (usually) commercial aircraft can transport up to 150 people, but Travolta customized the interior and turned it into palatial accommodations for up to 15. Comfort seems to be the name of the game. The plane is equipped with beautiful bedrooms and a full-size bathroom.
With a net worth estimated around $170 million, Travolta loves planes. He loves owning them, he loves being on them, but he also loves flying them. Whereas most celebs just hire a professional pilot, a lot of the time, Travolta is his own pilot. He loves it. “There is no feeling in the world quite like flying an airplane” he shared via social media a few years ago.
Paris Hilton – Gulfstream G100, Estimated $16 Million
Paris Hilton is most famous for being the heiress to the Holiday Inn hotel chain and through her stint as a reality star. She has a net worth of around $300 million. While some celebs choose to be conservative with their money and its presence, Paris Hilton flaunts it. She lives a decadent life and she ain’t afraid to show it. So she’s more than happy to spoil us with photos of her and her private jet.
Though information about Hilton’s jet is conflicting and elusive, we believe she owns a Gulfstream G100. And as we can see from the pictures, the interior is beautiful. A couple of years ago, one report detailed how Paris only flies commercial. Their proof? Seeing her at LAX airport. But pictures of her standing in front and in her private jet seem to prove otherwise.
Nicolas Cage – Sarita, 130 Feet, Estimated $20 Million
Nicolas Cage sure knows how to spend. Some say he’s a compulsive spender. Maybe the fact that he bought a dinosaur skull, a castle, 50 cars, and a haunted house attests to his immoderation. At one point, his net worth was around $150 million, but due to his spending, he now has about $25 million. So the purchase of a $20 million dollar yacht was before he blew most of his fortune.
To be fair though, the yacht is beautiful and we’re jealous, of course. It can sleep 12 guests. Since Cage purchased it, he refurbished the whole thing, and it now has nice wood panels, carpet, and leather furniture. It also has an outdoor gym, a jacuzzi, and a luxurious dining hall. But since acquiring the yacht, Cage has run into tax trouble. He needed to pay back $13 million, prompting him to sell the yacht.
Tyler Perry – Gulfstream III, Estimated $125 Million
No one can call Tyler Perry a cheap skate. He paid an estimated $125 million for his (first) private jet, and then he sunk about another $50 million into customization. He was able to afford it – his net worth is estimated at around $1 billion. His jet has some celeb status of its own. It will always be remembered partly as the aircraft that brought Whitney Houston’s body back home after her fatal accident in Beverly Hills.
Perry’s jet is beyond luxurious. It’s decked out with a 42 inch television, a dining room, a master bedroom, and, among other things, a full kitchen. It’s quite the toy. But recently, it seems that Perry acquired another, even bigger jet. The Sun reported seeing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle getting on the plane on their way to his California mansion after leaving their Vancouver Island residence.
Tom Cruise – Gulfstream G450, Estimated $36 Million
Being one of the top A-listers on the globe means that you can afford to buy one of the top private jets available on the market. Brand new, the Gulfstream G450 (aka Gulfstream IV) goes for around $36 million. This is small change for Cruise seeing as he’s worth about $570 million.
Even with all his expenses, including all the money the Church of Scientology squeezes out of him, Cruise has his plane all souped up. It even has an onboard hot tub and a movie theatre. The jet also has a special ventilation system that refreshes the cabin’s air every two minutes. Now that’s luxury.
Leonardo DiCaprio – Topaz, 482 Feet,(Chartered), Rental Price Unkwown
No one really knows how much Leonardo DiCaprio paid when he chartered the world’s 11th biggest yacht. It’s owned by a sheik from the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the owner of the Manchester United soccer team. Still, let’s have a look at some numbers. DiCaprio’s net worth is estimated at $260 million. The yacht was built for around $200 million and its current value is estimated at $678 million.
It really is the pinnacle of splendor. It has a helipad, three swimming pools, a gym, a movie theatre, accommodations for over a dozen people, dining halls, kitchens, a wine cellar, and everything else you can imagine. But since his World Cup vacay, he under come under fire from environmentalists for the boat’s emissions and those of the private jets he takes around the world.
Kylie Jenner – Bombardier Global Express 7500, Estimated $73 Million
In the last five or six years, Kylie Jenner has skyrocketed to the top of the rich person food chain. As of now, it’s estimated that she’s worth about $900 million. But last year, in 2019, she made it to the Forbes billionaire list. And she’s down to splurge. One of her grandest purchases – and there are many – is a top notch private jet.
The plane, which she calls “Kylie Air” and which also features a decal that reads “Kylie Skin” is fully loaded. It can host ten flyers, it’s got a double bed, leather furniture, a state-of-the-art entertainment system, and all sorts of elaborate Kardashian-esque decorations.
Steven Spielberg – Seven Seas, 282 Feet, Estimated $200 Million
As one of the most influential film producers of all time, Steven Spielberg can certainly afford a little high-class living. He has an estimated $3.7 billion dollars in the bank, so there’s not much that he can’t afford. His super-yacht, Seven Seas, is a never-ending source of fun, luxury, and comfort. He paid around $200 million for it, but when he’s not using it, he charters it out to people for around $1 million dollars a week.
It can host 12 guests 26 crew members and it has absolutely everything; gym, spa, movie theatre, helipad, swimming pool, massage room. It’s paradise on the water. There’s a rumor circulating that Spielberg likes to travel on his yacht to the sets of his most successful movies, regardless of what country they’re in.
Tiger Woods – Gulfstream G550, Estimated $53 Million
Tiger Woods is currently the richest golfer in the world, with a net worth estimated at $800 million. He travels all over the world to go to golf tournaments, and he’s not down to fly commercial. His private jet is top-notch. It has a kitchen, a walk-in closet, a spacious and luxurious dining room setup, a master bedroom and a huge bathroom.
The jet also functions as an office, it has wifi and everything else you need to get work done. So when Woods in on the “road” and not chilling on his equally extravagant super-yacht (yes, he also has a yacht), he’s zooming around the world in style.
Richard Branson – Necker Belle, 105 Feet, Estimated $3 Million
When we found out that Richard Branson, billionaire ($4.3 billion) founder of Virgin Group, “only” just sold his yacht for around $3 million. It made us feel that our yachting ambitions might not be untenable. After all, what’s $3 million, right? Pocket change. Relatively modest price notwithstanding, Necker Belle is a true beauty.
Before selling the yacht, Branson had just redone the interior. It’s all high-quality hardwood, with an emphasis on the aesthetic. In terms of proportions and ratios, it’s a little wide. That means it’s very stable, so it’s hard for anyone to get seasick. When asked why he sold the yacht, Branson said, “I’m not really into motor yachts… I’d get bored cruising on a motor yacht.”
Lionel Messi – Gulfstream V, Estimated $15 Million
Lionel Messi, the highest paid soccer player on the planet has a net worth of around $400 million. And he’s perfectly happy treating himself and his family to a private jet. It’s not clear whether Messi actually owns the jet or if he just leases it long-term, but what’s certain is that he’s made it his own home in the sky.
In the tail, there’s a big fat “10” that corresponds to his soccer number. On the steps leading to the entrance, he has the names of his wife and kids. Onboard there are two bathrooms, a full kitchen, eight beds, and the whole cabin is decked out with beautiful finishing. It really doesn’t get much better than this.
J.K. Rowling – Amphitrite, 157 Feet, Estimated $19 Million
After some time enjoying the luxury life of a yacht owner, J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, sold the boat and returned to being a land-bound multimillionaire. Rowling originally acquired her boat from Johnny Depp, but after a couple of years, she decided to let it go. But it probably wasn’t because she couldn’t afford it – her net worth is pegged at anywhere between $650 million to $1.2 billion.
Though it’s not an old boat, it’s style is sort of vintage. The design is from the 1930s. It’s got everything. Besides being equipped with beautiful living quarters for 10, it’s got every at-sea entertainment option out there. Kayaks, tenders, wakeboards, surfing equipment, snorkeling gear, windsurfers, and more. But for rainy days, it has a cutting-edge entertainment system, complete with the latest video game consoles. When can we go for a ride?
Harrison Ford – Cessna Citation Sovereign, Estimated $18 Million
When Harrison Ford isn’t hurdling through space in the Millennium Falcon, he’s soaring through the skies on his own private plane(s). Unfortunately, there aren’t any photos to show us what it looks like inside, but seeing as Ford has about $230 million bucks in the bank, we imagine it’s extremely nice. And this baby isn’t his only plane, he has nine more!
Over the years, he’s built himself a reputation as an avid flyboy. In an interview with a tabloid he said, “Flying is like good music: it elevates the spirit and it’s an exhilarating freedom. It’s not a thrill thing or an adrenaline rush; it’s engaging in a process that takes focus and commitment.” He also added, “I’m so passionate about flying, I often fly up the coast for a cheeseburger.”
P Diddy – Double Down, 213 Feet, (Chartered) Estimated $560k per Week
When it comes to going on vacation, P Diddy doesn’t cheap out. And why would you if you were worth $740 million? A few years ago, he was spotted cruising up the Italian coast on Double Down, the $46 million dollar super-yacht he chartered for $560K a week. He’s clearly having a good time, as we see him sipping cocktails with no shirt and jumping into the warm waters.
The world-class yacht isn’t missing a thing. It sleeps 12 guests and tons of crew members. On one of the beautiful decks, there’s a jacuzzi. On another, a pool. In the rich mahogany main hall, one can find a piano. Double Down, however, isn’t Diddy’s usual choice. Usually, he charters a boat called Oasis, an even bigger and more expensive ($72 million) super-yacht. It even has a nightclub onboard!
Elvis Presley – Lockheed JetStar, Estimated $500K
It’s not for no reason that people call Elvis Presley “The King.” One of the reasons, among the many, is that he lived like absolute royalty. Exhibit A: his own luxurious private jet. This beauty is pretty vintage, but it’s awesome. Inside, it’s all done up with raspberry red furniture. The chairs look super comfortable. The plane was built in 1962, so the decades that have passed have taken a toll.
It’s rusty, it’s missing an engine, and it has faced the onslaught of exposure from almost 50 years of sitting on a runway down in Mexico. Nonetheless, it’s awesome. “It’s not clear what one would do with the plane,” said one reporter. “It would have to be disassembled and transported somewhere – although it could potentially fetch millions if it was fully restored.”
Giorgio Armani – Maín, 200 Feet, Estimated $60 Million
If the first thing you noticed about Giorgio Armani’s super-yacht is that it looks more like a navy battleship than a luxurious personal vessel, then you would be right. He picked this design on purpose because he likes the concept of military orderliness. “Structure allows me to move freely and productively, because I can monitor everything.” He also mentioned, “I fear chaos and unruliness.”
Luckily, when you have a net worth of around $8.5 billion dollars, you can take (expensive) steps to fight your fears. Maín, of course, has all the features one would expect from a yacht of this caliber: pool, spa, 5-star kitchen, gym, sundeck, beautiful living quarters. But what makes Maín unique is the painstaking effort taken to hide any of the boats technical details. You won’t see any pipes or levers onboard, just pure luxury.
Floyd Mayweather – Gulfstream G650, Estimated $65 Million
With a net worth of $285 million and a boxing record of 50 wins and zero losses, Floyd Mayweather is down to splurge big time. His jet is worth about $65 million but he also allegedly has a $32 million dollar jet for his entourage. It’s no question: in terms of celebrity money spending, Mayweather is at the lavish end of the spectrum.
He calls his jet Air Mayweather and arranged to have his last name printed on the jet in a huge decal. Onboard the fully-loaded plane, you’ll notice that everything is gold colored. All the equipment and furniture is the best of the best. Apparently, even the staff that service him as he flies around the word have his “50 – 0” record stitched onto their uniforms.
Eric Clapton – Va Bene, 160 Feet Estimated $11.5 Million
Eric Clapton, the legendary rockstar, is mega-rich. He has about $250 million buckaroos. In 2005, he wanted a real vacation, so he chartered a big ol’ luxury yacht for him and his buddies to cruise around the Mediterranean. He had such a great time that he decided to buy the boat when his vacation was over.
A lot of the time when we think of rockstars, we think drugs, alcohol, parties, raw music, and scandals. But Eric Clapton doesn’t meet those criteria: he’s a relaxed family man. And the decor on the yacht reflects that. It’s all easy-going tones and cozy vibes. Of course, it also has all the trappings of a super-yacht: jacuzzi, state-of-the-art media systems, spacious lounges and living quarters, a full-blown gourmet kitchen, and more.
Mariah Carey – Bombardier Global Express XRS, Estimated $42 Million
Mariah Carey is believed to have a net worth of anywhere between $300 and $520 million. So she can fly private. And we’re jealous. Over the years she has been seen on and off all sorts of private jets. But it’s not entirely clear what she owns. In 2016, with her kids, she was onboard a Bombardier Global Express XRS on the way to Australia. But it’s possible that it belongs to her ex-beau, James Packer.
Tabloids have also seen her and her former husband Nick Cannon boarding a jet on several occasions. And last year, in December 2019, newspapers (and her own Instagram) documented her celebrating in front of a jet believed to be her own. She also was clad in expensive Louis Vuitton and had a glass of champagne in her hand. So what we can say for sure is that she’s rich, she has access to luxurious private jets, and she lives the high-life!
Taylor Swift – Dassault Falcon 900, Estimated $40 Million
Taylor Swift is on fire on today’s music scene, and that comes with big money. Her net worth is around $360 million. So paying $40 million wasn’t that big a deal for her. As you can see in the bottom photo, the jet has the number 13 painted on it. It’s because 13 has special significance for Swift. “I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first number one song had a 13-second intro.”
On the right engine below the rudder, you’ll also notice the registration, N898TS. And you can guess what the “TS” stands for. The interior of the plane is fancy. Crisp and creamy leather seats, beautiful hardwood tables and cabinets, a kitchen, and a high-grade entertainment system are just some elements of the unfathomable luxury. Jet lag anyone? Yes please…
Roberto Cavalli – Freedom, 91 Feet, Estimated $20 Million
Roberto Cavalli, the Italian fashion designer, likes to enjoy life. And with $500 million in the bank, the world is his opulent oyster. His yacht screams money and luxury. Everything from the zebra and tiger linens to the crystal and marble-rich bathrooms, Freedom is stunningly eye-catching.
The exterior of the boat also looks sleek. The black and chrome grey color scheme kind of reminds us of some kind of military vessel. The beautiful kitchen has a particular emphasis on it. It’s fully loaded and it’s massive. “It’s bigger than my bedroom.” Noted Cavalli. And the bridge looks like something out of a movie set in (a non-dystopian) 2093.
Elton John – Boeing 720, (Chartered), $2.5K per Day
Back in the 70s, Elton John chartered a famous Boeing 720 plane iconically known as the Starship for $2,500 dollars a day. He chartered it to fly around the world on his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour, which was about nine months long. So with $2,500 a day and nine months worth of days, you can do the math and see that it’s pretty darn pricey. Our estimate is that he paid close to $700K. Taking inflation into account, that’s about $4 million today.
We suppose if you’re super rich like Elton John (even in the 70s), then you can afford it. Today he’s worth about $700 million. In the 70s he didn’t have that much wealth amassed, but he was still filthy rich. Aboard the Starship, it was pure luxe. A bar, rotating chairs everywhere, bedrooms, showers, kitchen, like a hotel. The plane was originally and primarily used by Led Zeppelin, but other stars used it when it was available.
Dwayne Johnson – Gulfstream G650, Estimated $65 Million
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has built himself up from nothing. When he first started out, he recalls looking in his wallet and seeing that he only had seven dollars. Now, he has about $320 million. And he’s not afraid to have a little fun. In addition to hot sport cars, multiple huge houses, and top-of-the-line tattoos, The Rock treats himself and his family to lavish travel in a private jet.
No one is saying he doesn’t work hard. He does. But he also plays hard. Aboard his jet (actually, even the most credible sources out there aren’t sure whether it’s owned or rented), he kicks backs on his pearl leather recliners. often munching on a five-star meal and sipping high-quality champagne. We can’t say we’re not envious.
Angelina Jolie – Cirrus SR22-G2, Estimated $300K
As one tabloid writer put it, Angelina Jolie’s purchase of her private plane is “incredibly modest.” For the other celebrities we’ve researched in this article the name of the game is luxury and decadence, for Jolie it’s more about the pilot experience. She has a net worth of about $120 million, so she could afford lavish things, but a huge private jet wasn’t on her shopping list.
Jolie has reportedly had her pilot’s license since 2004. A few years ago, she made headlines when she was in Namibia and she nonchalantly and expertly flew over the desert. Then, about a year later, she decided to buy her own plane. Her little Cirrus is basic but it’s high-quality. No room for full kitchens or fancy sofas, but it’s get everything you need to get your pilot on.
Jackie Chan – Embraer Legacy 500, Estimated $20 Million
It feels like Jackie Chan has been absent these days. But it’s not true. He’s been around, playing in some movies, directing others, enjoying his $400 million dollar fortune, and chilling sky-high on his new private jet. Since his stunt days (and broken bone days: pelvis, sternum, neck, fingers, nose, ribs, toes, and cheekbones), he likes to enjoy the luxury life.
Aboard his Legacy 500, one can find all the hallmarks of lavishness. It’s got a top-notch entertainment system, all voice controllable. Eight beautiful seats, four of which turn into beds, and everything else you can think of. Chan was happy to get it. He said, “I’m so thrilled to receive this Legacy 500, a state-of-the-art executive jet, [it] has brought me fantastic travelling experiences and great convenience.”
Roman Abramovich – Eclipse, 533 Feet, Estimated $500 Million
When you’re one of the world’s leading billionaire’s, what can you do with your money? Sure, you can invest more. You can donate to charity. You can put it in a mattress. Roman Abramovich, who’s worth about $12.5 billion dollars, does all these things. But he also bought himself the fourth biggest yacht in the entire world. Yeah, this thing, named Eclipse, is insane in the membrane.
We’re not sure who’s more famous, the owner or the boat. Eclipse has been extensively documented, so the juicy deets are out there for anyone who’s interested. Two helipads, two pools, more jacuzzis than one can count, a disco hall, a missile detection system (ok…), 24 guest cabins, a mini-submarine, and every other amenity/luxury you can imagine. It doesn’t hurt to dream big.
Ralph Lauren – Gulfstream G650, Estimated $65 Million
It’s estimated that Ralph Lauren has a net worth of about $5.6 billion dollars. So with a tiny little chunk of this massive fortune, he decided to treat himself to a nice private jet. And of course, seeing as Lauren has contributed to the very definition of the word “style,” his jet’s interior has been completely customized to suit his fashion needs.
It has a special color scheme, all hand-picked by Lauren himself. The flight information (speed, altitude, weather, location, etc.) is brightly displayed on elaborate screens all over the plane. And in addition to the luxurious accommodations aboard, there’s even an office. So the fashion god can get work done as well as enjoy himself
Laurene Powell Jobs – Venus, 260 Feet, Estimated $115 Million
Laurene Powell Jobs is Steve Jobs’s widow. When he passed away from cancer in 2011, his widow was left with a massive fortune. The fortune, around $18 billion, was amassed thanks to the huge success of Apple. The super-yacht, named Venus, was built specifically for Jobs in accordance with his design specifications, but he sadly died before being able to fully enjoy it.
Jobs had a uniquely sleek design taste for every piece of technology he was involved in making. When you look at Venus, it’s not hard to see parallels with the rest of the Apple products. She sleeps 12 guests and 22 crew members. And she’s got pretty much everything you’d expect from a super-yacht, including a sort of water-garage with a small speed boat available for cruising.
Kevin Hart – Hawker 400XP, Estimated $7 Million
As of today, Kevin Hart is one of the wealthiest comedians on the planet, with a net worth of around $200 million bucks. He’s got a real taste for luxurious living. Hart has a collection of cars, a big mansion, and not least, a private jet. In terms of pricing, the Hawker 400 isn’t that expensive. Well, at least in comparison to other planes which cost dozens of millions.
Even though the price is “modest,” Hart’s plane is loaded. From comfortable and cushiony armchairs to mahogany finishing, it’s luxury at its finest. We see why Hart loves his plane. But a couple of years ago, he had a scary experience. As he and his friends landed in Boston, a tire on the ket blew out! The pilots handled the situation well, and no one was hurt, but the experience shook everyone up.
Cara Delevingne – Gulfstream G650 (Chartered), Rental Price Unknown
For a few good years now, Cara Delevingne has been making a big name for herself through modeling, singing, and acting (e.g. in Suicide Squad). And with the big name comes big money. Her current net worth: $28 million. It’s unclear how much she pays each time, but it’s clear that Delivingne loves to travel in chartered private jets.
When she won Model of the Year a few years back, she and one her high-profile besties, none other than Kendall Jenner, borrowed the Gulfstream G650 jet belonging to Karl Lagerfeld to travel to the award show. The jet itself is worth around $65 million, so you can imagine the decadence. And since then, Delevnigne has been spotted on numerous other occasions flying with her friends on private jets.
Rafael Nadal – Sunreef, 80 Feet, Estimated $6.2 Million
Rafael Nadal, the world-class tennis player has around $180 million dollars. With a small chunk of his massive fortune, he bought a gleaming yacht. He was heavily involved in the design process, sometimes poring over even the minute details. For example, his favorite colors are “cream, coffee, and beige,” which are prominent aboard his maritime floating getaway.
Though comparatively modest in length, Sunreef is home to a lot of toys. It has a deck saloon, a wet bar, special tanning sun pads, a huge terrace, a barbecue, and multiple balconies perfect for chill or party. The garage is designed to be able to hold smaller boats, like jet skis. When can we take this baby for a spin?
Magic Johsnon – Gulfstream III, Estimated $37 Million
Being one of the most well known basketball legends, it’s no surprise that Magic Johnson has got some spare cash. As of now he’s worth about $600 million dollars. He got wealthy from playing in the NBA, but he also had several successful business ventures, which further expanded his bank accounts. Affording a top-line private jet was kind of small peanuts.
It has everything you need, of course. Luxe furniture, entertainment, gourmet food – really, the pinnacle of comfort. In fact, Johnson’s private jet is the location where he made some of his most important business transactions. For example, in what was interesting news in 2010, Johnson, aboard his jet, sold his 5% stake in the Lakers.
Rupert Murdoch – Morning Glory, 158 Feet, Estimated $11 Million
After having dived into the world of celebrity luxury super-yachts, and considering the size of this beast, paying $11 million doesn’t even sound that expensive. And we suppose Rupert Murdoch has the money. He owns hundreds of news outlets and publishing companies around the world, including The New York Post (U.S.), The Sunday Times (U.K.), and Harper Collins Publishing.
The interior of his yacht is made from beautiful hardwood and marble. In the U-shaped living room, there’s even a fireplace. The ultimate coziness. It can sleep eight guests and eight crew. When you go down to the first floor on the beautifully handcrafted stairs, there’s a spacious formal dining area and a bar at one end. And if the luxury overwhelms you, you can step out for some fresh air on the rustic-style deck, and marvel at the massive sails.
Tony Robbins – Boeing 737, Estimated $90 Million
From janitor to superstar, Tony Robbins has made a killing giving motivational speeches and advice and writing books on self-fulfillment and self-help. The man is loaded. Net worth: estimated $480 to $600 million. After a huge 13 hour, luggage-losing airport nightmare one year on his way to visit a friend in Aspen, he decided to start flying private. He says when you travel as much as he does, private flying is a life-saver.
It’s estimated that his Boeing 737 cost around $90 million, a huge sum. The interior is completely converted and customized to be what we imagine if a commercial jet had a baby with a luxury conference venue. It’s massive and it has everything. Huge dining/sitting space, meeting rooms with tables, bedrooms, kitchen, and shower are some of the features. It was an expensive buy, but he charters it out to people at around $15K an hour.
Neymar – Embreaer Phenom 100, Estimated $4 Million
Behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar takes third place for highest paid soccer players in the world, with a net worth of around $105 million. With this kind of money, he’s down to indulge in some high-life traveling. Aboard his jet there are the classic creamy beige recliners, and there’s a bed for Neymar’s sky-high beauty sleep. The whole plane has nice, immaculately polished hardwood trim.
On the outside, Neymar has got the plane custom decorated. This private jet is not Neymar’s only aircraft. Apparently he also owns a smaller propeller plane and a helicopter. These aircraft purchases, along with many other luxury toys, have prompted some to worry he’s going broke. But that doesn’t actually seem to be the case.
Kirsty Bertarelli – Vava II, 314 Feet, Estimated $128 Million
Kirsty Bertarelli, songwriter and former Miss U.K. is by far the richest woman in Britain. In fact, with a net worth of over $12 billion, it’s estimated that she has more money than the Queen of England and J.K. Rowling combined! Part of her huge wealth comes from the fact that she’s married to Switzerland’s richest man. Their super-yacht is insane. Just to fill it with fuel costs $320k
Bertarelli’s husband commissioned the yacht’s construction in secret, under the name “Project 55.” Onboard their floating Garden of Eden, it’s every vacationer’s dream. It’s basically like a five-star hotel; gourmet chow, deluxe suites, fancy bars, pool, everything. If you’re feeling particularly spendy, you can charter this beast. But if you have to ask how much it costs, you can’t afford it.
Jay-Z – Bombardier Challenger 850, Estimated $32 Million
Jay-Z, as you probably know, is one of the biggest names in hip-hop, if not one of the biggest names in music in general. As of now, it’s estimated that he has about $1 billion. Combine that with some of Beyoncé’s wealth, his wife, and you get one of the richest power couples. Spending a few million on a private jet barely scratches the surface of their deep pockets. And it shows aboard Jay-Z’s plane.
It’s got a full-sized bathroom and a spacious bedroom, and sleeping room for up to seven people. The kitchen is always fully-stocked, with an emphasis on healthy snacks for the kids. The jet also has luxurious workspace, since Jay-Z often uses it as his office. On the outside, he had the jet monogrammed with a custom design. How do we get tickets?
Dolce and Gabbanna – Regina, Estimated $21 Million
Domenico Dolce (right) and Stefano Gabbana (left) are business (and romantic) partners who have managed to create one of the biggest fashion empires ever. They have a net worth of about $2 billion. Their sharp sense of fashion shows aboard their yacht. Sounds counter-intuitive, but the interior is a mixture of flashy and minimalist. The architecture is elegant and subtle, but you can also find ruby and sapphire taps and marble floors.
The walls and much of the furniture is gentle, but some are decorated with (we hope fake) animal skins, like tiger, leopard, and crocodile. There are a huge VIP room and a private gym, as well as lavish sleeping quarters. Each room is named after a certain exotic animal, for instance, giraffe, rhino, and elephant. All in all, it looks like the definition of high-class living.
Celine Dion – Bombardier Global Express XRS, Estimated $42 Million
Celine Dion, the Canadian-born pop singer, is mega-rich. She’s worth about $800 million. So it wasn’t so shocking when we found out she owned her own private jet. It’s a symbol of opulence, only the richest can afford a toy like this. Onboard, in addition to the beautiful chairs in the living-room-style quarters, one can find multiple bathrooms and a full kitchen.
The purchase of a private jet is not the last stop on the way to Expensive Town. You also need to factor in the cost of maintaining and insuring it. This can also cost millions! This is obviously just a mode of transportation designed for the super rich. We guess the rest of us will have to be happy just taking the bus…
Tiger Woods – Privacy, 155 Feet, Estimated $20 Million
As you may already know by now, Tiger Woods has a private jet worth millions. But the guy also has a yacht! We suppose it’s befitting for the wealthiest golfer in the world, with a net worth of about $800 million. And his yacht is absolutely insane. Since he bought it in 2004, he’s been all over the world on it.
Let’s have a look. It’s got a gargantuan bar on the deck, a movie theater, a jacuzzi that can fit eight people, a massive VIP room, fancy kitchen and dining hall, a gym, complete with a treadmill, a bike and free weight, and deluxe guest quarters. The whole interior is decorated with top-line cherry wood trim. To get between the different stories of the boat, there’s a three-person elevator. If that’s not the high-life, we don’t know what is.
