Let’s be honest; online shopping is just one of the many reasons why we love the internet. Sure, sometimes it’s great to head into a store to try on clothes or measure that rug you’ve wanted for a while – but that doesn’t mean that you have to. If you want to buy these things in your pajamas while sitting on your couch and eating ice cream, you can totally do that.
Unfortunately, online shopping does come with its risks. Sometimes what you see really isn’t what you get, and pictures really can be deceiving. These people found that out the hard way, as their online shopping adventures turned into horror stories. Of course, they can all laugh about it now, because these online shopping fails are absolutely hilarious…
Self-Care Gone Rogue
We all live stressful lives, right? Whether you have a job you hate, whether you’re struggling to pay your bills, or whether you’re just fed up with living on this planet, taking some time to rest, recuperate, and practice self-care can really help you out. This woman obviously tried to do that when she bought this facemask online.
She wasn’t exactly chilled out when she opened up the packet and realized that the facemask she ordered was only really big enough for a cat, though. We don’t know what company thought anyone could fit this facemask on their faces, but this woman definitely couldn’t. The only saving grace is that she had a very smooth forehead afterward.
What a Pretty Dress You Have
Some people absolutely hate shopping in-store for clothes, and we totally get it. You have to search through racks, you have to try things on, and you have to deal with irritating shopworkers coming up to you every five minutes and asking if you need any help. Sometimes, though, it might be better to shop in person rather than online.
This woman realized her mistake when she bought this incredible flamingo dress off the web. While she was taken by the ’50s-style cut and the bright pattern, she didn’t think about the fact that it would need to fit her body; unfortunately, it didn’t. What she got in the mail looked totally different, and was a little shorter than she expected.
It’s a Surprise!
There’s nothing better than planning a surprise party for the ones you love. Most of the time, you can see the excitement and the surprise on their faces and know that you did a good job. However, everyone knows that keeping a surprise a secret is pretty hard. Especially if you live with that person.
This woman tried everything to ensure that she kept her mom’s surprise party a secret, and even asked the online seller to keep the party supplies box discreet. Or, at least, she thought she did. Unfortunately, she wrote some rather detailed instructions for the delivery driver instead of the seller. Before she knew it, the surprise was ruined.
The Sneakiest of Sneakers
It’s no secret that designer brands are always in-demand. People are willing to pay extortionate amounts of money to get their hands on these designer clothes, shoes, cars, and more – and the desire to own such items can lead customers into the arms of sneaky sellers. Like this person who decided to sell their “Yeezy” sneakers.
The customer thought they’d bagged themselves the purchase of a lifetime when they bought the sneakers as advertised, but when they arrived on their doorstep it was a whole different story. The seller had swindled the customers and instead given them some lookalike slippers. They do look more comfortable, though…
You’ll Need to Sit Down for This
Nowadays, you can buy everything on the internet. All it takes is one simple search, and you’ll find someone, somewhere, who is selling exactly what you need. Thankfully for this business owner, he managed to find a seller with just the right amount of office chairs he needed. They were an incredible price, too…
This guy probably should have double-checked what he was buying before he handed over the cash, though – or at least questioned why these office chairs were so cheap. What arrived were chairs for toddlers, barely even big enough to hold one adult leg. We don’t even think he’d be able to look over the desk.
A Not-So-Snuggly Blanket
If you’re the kind of person that loves to lay on the couch with a cozy blanket on top of you, you’ll be happy to know that there are always loads of options on the internet. You do need to be pretty picky about which one you buy, though, as things on the internet aren’t always as they seem.
While this young lady was originally enticed by this blanket when she saw the picture on the left, what arrived on her doorstep was a little different. In fact, you wouldn’t even know that it was supposed to be a blanket if it wasn’t the same color. Perhaps she was meant to knit it herself? Or maybe this was just an epic online shopping fail.
Are They Long Enough?
Online stores are pretty good when it comes to providing customers with the information they need – especially when it comes to clothes. They normally offer size guides that allow the customer to measure themselves, and the end result should be clothes that fit. That’s not always the case, though.
While this person assumed that they had bought the right size jeans for them, they quickly realized that something had gone terribly wrong. Either the size guide wasn’t correct or the person couldn’t use a tape measure, because we don’t think these are ready-to-wear jeans. Unless you want to trip and fall every five minutes.
A Three-Foot Pool
When the temperature starts to rise and the sweat starts to dip, it’s always a good idea to find some way of cooling down. Some people buy a fan or a whole air conditioning system, but this family decided to buy a pool for their backyard. They didn’t want anything too deep, though. They knew that a three-foot paddling pool would be enough.
When the pool arrived, they soon realized that they had ordered a three-foot pool – but not quite the three-foot they were after. This tiny addition to their yard was more like a pool for their family dog, and even then it would have been a tight squeeze. We have a feeling this was returned immediately.
Two Tiny Rings to Rule Them All
Buying jewelry is a minefield – especially if you’re looking to buy rings. On the one hand, you want to buy in a store to make sure you’re choosing the right style and fit for your finger, but buying in-store means you have to add a few extra zeros to the price tag. Sometimes, that’s just too much for people who are already spending so much on a wedding.
This couple decided to bypass the high in-store prices and went ahead and bought an absolute bargain they found online. They probably should have questioned why these two rings were so cheap before they bought them, though. In reality, these rings were absolutely tiny.
Just a Little Bit Too Small
If you didn’t already know, there are oodles of pieces of furniture that you can buy online if you wanted to. Whether you need to buy a new bed or a new closet, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll find the exact thing that you want and need online. Make sure you double-check the dimensions, though.
Yes, don’t do what this person did and buy dining chairs without checking that they fit, first. They could have saved themselves a whole load of hassle if they had simply whipped out their tape measure and checked that they were buying full-size chairs and not chairs for ants…
Showing off Your Muscles
You probably don’t need us to tell you that singlets are pretty versatile. Anyone can wear them around the house, out in the scorching heat, or even in the gym. But while singlets come in all shapes and sizes, this man, in particular, was after a “Muscle Fit” singlet that showed off all of his hard work in the gym. In the picture, it looked perfect…
In reality, though, the muscle fit singlet was just a little too tight. And while it certainly showed off his muscles, the end result was more like a dress than a singlet. He probably could still pump some iron while wearing this grey, skin-tight dress, but we have a feeling he would be inundated with wolf-whistles.
Pick a Card, Any Tiny Card
More than anything, online shopping is just easy. Sometimes you can order something online and have it delivered to your home that same day – which means you don’t even have to leave the house. This is pretty cool if you only have one thing that you need to buy, such as a pack of playing cards for your poker night.
This person decided to do just that but soon realized that buying cards online probably was a mistake. You know, unless they really did mean to order some teeny tiny playing cards that you can barely read. Maybe that’s part of their game? Or maybe they also ordered some giant magnifying glasses to help out the players.
Dressed to Unimpress
We don’t know how they do it, but models on the internet always look so perfect when they’re trying to sell clothes. The material always looks top-quality, the color is always so vibrant, and the fit is always spot-on. Of course, the internet sells lies – and this online shopper soon realized that when they bought this green dress.
While the general shape of these two dresses is the same, that’s where the similarities end. The color is completely off, the fabric looks completely different, and don’t even get us started on the fit. The whole thing is just an outright online shopping fail, but we can’t decide whether the blame lies in the shop or the person who decided that a $5 dress was worth the risk.
A Tent for One
If you’re the kind of person that loves camping, then you’ll know that you need all the gear to camp successfully. After all, you can’t survive in the wilderness without having access to food and water, heat, and shelter. But how do you know if you’ve chosen the right kind of shelter? Well, you need to be able to fit more than your head in it…
This man obviously thought that he was buying a full-size human tent online, but what turned up at his door was anything but. While he would be able to keep his head dry and warm during his camping adventures, the same can’t be said for the rest of his body. So, we think this one is a bit of a fail.
The Dress of Nightmares
Have you ever had one of those online shopping moments where you find that dress of dreams? Where after endless scrolling you finally come across a dress so perfect you know you need it in your life? Well, so has this lady. She thought she’d found her dress of dreams in the form of this nude bandage dress – but oh, how wrong she was.
Instead of ordering the dress of dreams, this woman ordered the dress of nightmares. It looks nothing like the dress she saw in pictures online, and it doesn’t even fit her perfectly. From the weirdly loose cut-outs to the very obvious elastic, we have a feeling this woman regrets her online shopping experience.
A Not-So-Pawfect Present
If you love your animals, you probably want to spoil them with gifts, toys, and playthings that will make their lives even more enjoyable. They deserve it, right? This dog owner thought the same, which is why they decided to buy a dog ramp they had spotted online. It looked perfect for their pooch.
However, when the ramp arrived, they quickly came to the conclusion that the advertised product wasn’t the same as what they had received in the mail. The ramp was not only a completely different color, but it was also tiny. That poor pooch looks pretty sad about it, too. Let’s hope their owner wrote a strongly worded letter to this seller.
Your Face or Mine?
Choosing gifts for the people you love can be a mammoth task. You don’t just want to buy them a candy bar because that’s not thoughtful enough – but then you don’t want to buy them a vacation because that’s just too expensive. This guy decided to find a good middle-ground and bought his other half a cushion with his face on it.
After all, what’s better than gifting a present that reminds them of how much they love you? Well, we have to say that literally anything is better than this. It’s important to note that the cushion wasn’t supposed to show such an up-close-and-personal photo of this man’s face. It was supposed to be a little more subtle. And a little less terrifying.
Sweep It Under the Rug
If you have your own place, you’ll know that items for your home can seriously break the bank. Everything costs so much money, and before you know it you’ve spent a whole month’s salary on dishes and cutlery. That’s why so many people head online to try and find some discounts. One homeowner thought they’d struck gold with this rug.
When they saw the incredibly cheap price of this rug, they were over the moon. However, what they didn’t realize was that there was a reason this rug was the price it was. It wasn’t exactly built for human usage but was instead designed to look cool and quirky in someone’s dollhouse. In the end, their dog claimed ownership.
Appearances Can Be Deceiving
We’ve got to hand it to the people who upload the pictures and descriptions for their products online. They certainly know how to trick us – especially when it comes to sizes. If we were this guy, we probably would have done the same thing. After all, the picture on the left looks like a full-size leather armchair. In reality, it’s definitely not…
While this man thought he’d bagged himself an absolute bargain, he realized he’d made a grave mistake when the tiny chair turned up on his doorstep. In his defense, the advert looked totally legit. Thankfully, it’s not so small that he can’t even sit in it. So there’s always a silver lining.
This Makes Us Feel Hungry
There are two kinds of people in the world. There are those who visit fancy restaurants that have teeny tiny portions, and then there are those who prefer not to leave a restaurant hungry. If you’re part of the latter category, you might want to look away now – because we don’t think the person who accidentally ordered these tiny cooking utensils will be making anything of substance.
In fact, are you even able to cook anything in these doll’s house accessories? This is a serious online shopping faux pas, but we totally get it. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in how cheap these online items are that you don’t look at the descriptions. Or the dimensions.
I Do or I Don’t?
You really can buy anything online nowadays, and this even includes wedding dresses. They’re normally a fraction of the price of bespoke bridal stores, which means they’re incredibly popular with brides who are trying to plan their wedding on a budget. Is it worth the risk, though?
This online shopper took the risk, and the resulting delivery is one that she instantly regret. While the wedding dress looked great on the model in the picture, it didn’t quite look the same in real life. The gems are beautiful, but there’s one part of this dress that we just can’t look away from. We’re sure you know what we’re talking about.
Time to Give These Shoes the Boot
If you’ve ever tried to buy a pair of boots before, you’ll know that they’re not cheap. Not if you want sturdy, high-quality boots, anyway. You normally have to shell out a huge amount of money to buy good boots that will last a while – but some people just don’t have that kind of cash. This person didn’t, anyway.
When they found some cheap but high-quality boots online, this woman couldn’t believe her luck. Until those boots turned up on her doorstep. She soon realized that the reason they were so cheap was that they were actually doll boots, rather than human-sized boots. Always read the small-print, people.
Call Me on My Giant Cell Phone
In the war of electronics, most people would agree that Apple iPhone always comes out on top. There are millions of them around the world, and many fans are willing to pay extra on top of the retail price to bag themselves one of these sold-out phones. This person thought they’d nailed it when they ordered the latest iPhone model…
What arrived in the mail was the complete opposite of what they thought it would be, though. Instead of a small cell phone, they were greeted with a giant cell phone that was over half the size of him! We’d love to know whether this was actually a working phone, or whether it was just a dummy prop that cost this man a fortune.
The Not-So-Amazing Spiderman
Everyone loves to get dressed up for a costume party, right? They’re fun, they’re creative, and they’re totally different from your average cocktail party. But attending a costume party means that you need a costume – and if you’re running out of time to head to the store, buying online is certainly an option.
This man soon regretted his decision to buy his Spiderman outfit online, though. Although he thought he was buying a full-size adult costume, the fact that he could barely squeeze it over his body meant that he’d made a grave mistake. We don’t think he even has space to swing through the city in this outfit.
